And, shame on Team Canada hockey dudes for not showing to the closing when the venue is fucking ACROSS THE STREET. Jesus. They're literally...across the street, like, feet away from each other (BC Place, opening/closing venue and GM Place - well, what they renamed "Canada Hockey Place")
In a little bit of defense of the hockey players, the NHL season actually starts back up tonight with a game. So depending on what team each was from and when/where their next game was they might have actually had to catch a plane. Unfortunately it is not like when the NBA players go to the Olympics in the summer since basketball season is in the fall/winter. I know the US goalie (Ryan Miller I think is his name) was there because they showed him on NBC. But I don't know about the other hockey players.

The NHL resumes tonight with Detroit & Colorado. With a slew of games on Tuesday. Not to mention the trade deadline on Weds.

At the very least Luongo could have shown, as his penthouse is kitty corner to the closing ceremonies venue, and directly across the street from Canada Hockey Place. The Sedins of Van. Canucks live, I believe, two buildings down so right there as well - didn't see them walking with the Swedes, but I could be wrong. Canucks play the Bluejackets Tues, so I'm sure they're probably flying out today for a practice.

CEO of NHL is such an a-hole. This is once every 4 years, and he's been so reluctant to let the players go an do their thing at the Olympics. I think most did have to catch a plane, unfortunately!!!!

Quoting limited to 3 levels deep
so sorry, having a hard time seeing what you wrote. Must be all this gold shinning in my eyes :P
Damn straight! We showed them who's BOSS!

Speaking of gold, got to hold one of the girls team canada hockey gold medals - it was super heavy. Like, about twice what I expected. She said it was hard to wear it around the neck all the time!
That would have been awesome to hold that medal.. I'd be like can i keep it? lol

it felt like it ended before it was supposed to. Like the big finish cancelled at the last minute.
